And the “yay we’re married” leaving the ceremony song
Our processional into the ceremony song…
Our first dance song…
Working on convincing my brother, dad, uncle, and friends to play it for us : )
So, I have not written in quite some time, mostly because after we booked the major vendors (caterer and rental company) I told everyone we weren’t talking about wedding plans until after the holidays. I didn’t want my entire year to be hyper-focused on wedding stuff.
In terms of updates…
We decided to purchase all the dishware used at thrift stores. My mom has been super on top of that, and we have 150 dinner, app, salad, and dessert plates, as well as 75 or so mugs. She also has nearly 300 cloth napkins that she also found at thrift stores. Buying was actually cheaper than renting, and didn’t want to use paper. Plus, having mismatched plates will give it a nice homey feel (we hope).
We are making the table linens. To be truly green, we would have rented (uber expensive) or bought used (we need a lot, and finding them used seemed like an unreasonable goal). So, we went to the “seconds” fabric store and picked out three huge bolts of fabric.
We opted for a family style meal, which means centerpieces will need to be minimal (fine with us!) Mom has collected various pitches, vases, glass milk jugs, tin cans, etc. from thrift stores, and we have a few friends who work magic with flowers. So our plan is to just use whatever is in our yards to fill the various receptacles. Done and done.
We are doing bunting from scrap fabric/sheets, etc. to decorate the tent. Seemed greener than buying paper lanterns or any other type of decoration.
Ben is making the rings out of a piece of wood from an old wooden boat he used to work on. We are also making a cool ring bowl (there is link to the tutorial in the blog) for carrying the rings.
I found a vintage dress online… I’m hoping it fits, because if not we will most likely be making a dress.
I’m sure there are about a million other updates, but I’m sleepy… more soon!
I especially love the idea of telling your story as a couple, I can see where guests would really enjoy that…
I like this idea instead of buying/renting the very “chic” mini chalk boards that you see all over the place…
We will also be having bunting to decorate the place up!
We are having pie instead of cake, and having a couple of these on the dessert table would give the table “height” and also fit with our vintage feel.
